Iguanas, SUP’s and Friends, oh my!

What a great couple of days we have had here at Williams Cay. As old as we are we learned from Wayne and Betty a new card game, Down the River, Up the River. It is not often we take the opportunity to play games and I don’t know why. I guess it is not as much fun with two people as it is four. Anyhow, Bright Ayes has a litany of card games and we always enjoy playing with them.

The next morning we would hop in the dinghy and say farewell to Asante (the other 53 Selene we have had to opportunity to meet) and agree to catch up when their last set of guests depart. After that we met up with Barry and Robin and headed toward Leaf Cay to visit the Iguanas. We have the boys with us so we knew it would be interesting. As usual, Jaxon is not as impressed as Cooper. Cooper was a riot and at times had to be held as I feared for someones life…..not sure who would win the battle.

We left the Iguanas to take a walk with the boys and allow Cooper to run a bit after his encounter with the beasts! They love having the opportunity to run off leash the stretch of beach and chase or in Coopers case, antagonize his sibling. Greg and Barry did a little investigative work on the dinghy while Robin and I walked the beach keeping Cooper in line. Jaxon is never too far away.

We hop in the dinghys and headed home for a quick lunch and then before the rain clouds could come near, Robin and I elected to splash our Stand Up Paddleboards and head out for a little excursion. This was probably only my third or fourth time aboard mine and I have never been able to get on it from the boat but this time would be different. I got the confidence I needed to get vertical while out on the open water without having to start at the ”shallow end of the pool”. We had a blast…..though Robin did fall in once as she glanced back over her shoulder and lost her balance. All in all we did pretty good…..it really helps you maintain a strong core and flexible knees. Robin taught me to start out on my knees and then when ready, rise using your paddle to help you balance as you stand. I finally got there.

We would finish out the day by saying farewell to Bright Ayes. We planned a spaghetti dinner aboard Paradigm Shift with Bright Ayes and Crossroads. Betty and Robin brought appetizers and we enjoyed some great stories while eating and then preparing dinner. The boys sat together so they could talk ”boat stuff” while the girls sat and talked about family and plans down the road. It was a great evening and again we bid Wayne and Betty farewell till we see them in Hampton or Deltaville on their way home.
