Our Time At Williams Cay

I think I mentioned how much we love this anchorage and as with all the other anchorages we love it seems EVERYONE has agreed as there are more boats here than we have ever seen. We had twenty eight boats here one night whereas before we may have seen twelve. This season we have also seen a record number of Catamarans (dual hulled sailboats)…they outnumber the monohull sailboats easily. I know these don’t quite tell the story as they are from the shoreline, but folks are anchored anywhere……channel, anchorage, deep water…..you name it….if there is more than five foot a water someone is going to drop an anchor.

We spent a few days with the boys on the beach. They love to run and Cooper in particular likes to run and then pounce on his brother. Go figure. He is so full of energy and Jaxon on the other hand has to muster up enough energy to protect himself from the inevitable. We love watching them run at full speed …..Cooper has the advantage with longer legs and less weight….he is pretty lean. And of course they come back to the boat all exhausted and ready for a long nap.

We met another Great Harbor boat in the anchorage here. A GH47, C. Marie and her owners were delightful. As you may have read our friends in Tavernier have a Great Harbor as well so it was neat to catch site of another here in the Bahamas. With their shallow draft they are a great boat for getting into anchorages we can only dinghy to.

We explored another beach one of two….known as ”Twin Beach” anchorage by some. The boys again love the freedom to run while we are amazed at the formations that evolve over the years from the high surfs and the high winds.

No Limits and A Lil’ Unsteady are due to arrive and dear friends on Tortuga anchored at Lee Stocking so we have made plans to do dinner together on Paradigm Shift…..but first a dinghy ride. Actually it was a dinghy bashing with a southerly wind making a bit of a fetch to Boysie Cay where we would find a blow hole and something similar to Rachels Baths. With the wind the blow hole was very active and the boys did not know what to think. It was a nice trip but as I told the leaders…..John and Joanne…..who needs a work out when you can bounce the fat off with that dinghy ride.

Once safely back at Paradigm Shift we prepare for a fabulous night of fun and food. Everyone brought fantastic side dishes while we provided pork tenderloins and dessert. It was great! So nice to have a dinner party and to be able to have adult conversations with the boys at one table and the girls at another. It was boaters midnight and it had to end but we all made plans to see each other in Georgetown as that is the next stop and the place to be in the next blow.
