Weather and MRSIMCARD

It was a gloomy day and one we that were extremely happy to be tied up at a dock. The clouds came in and the sky got dark quickly. The winds began to pick up as the boys and I headed out for a walk. I had chatted with my brother earlier who (with wife Sylvia) are at Cape Coral and had just been issued a tornado warning. They were spared but not far from them at Fort Meyers there was some destruction. That system crossed and became our afternoon thunderstorm with winds gusting in the upper 40’s and 50’s. I could not get them on the camera but our sustained winds were in the 30’s for a bit and finally laid down in the 20’s for the evening.

Greg happened to be at the local “bar”/hangout watching the Eagles in their play off game. (We won’t talk about that anymore.) Anyhow the boys and I adjusted lines and put out fenders where they were needed. We were being pushed into the dock and in that case, the more fenders the better. The rain did not last long but the wind was relentless. As the wind would let up for a moment, the boat would swing so I could tighten a spring line. It was a dance of patience. But as you can see my help was taking a nap.

I want to mention here that there are several things to consider when coming to the Bahamas and one of them is your cell phone coverage. For us we have always used MRSIMCARD and I will give them this shout out as they ALWAYS deliver. When our plans were put on hold for a week, they delayed the activation of our phone as promised they would if I would shoot them a text. The selling feature for me and MRSIMCARD is that when I arrive in the Bahamas, I have a phone and enough data to get me “going”. Once here I can “top up” through MRSIMCARD or I can go to the local BTC office and top up with a voucher. This gives me the opportunity to communicate with family and friends that we are okay and we have arrived safely.
