Threading the Needle

Up bright and early to enjoy that morning cup of coffee before getting underway. Little did we know that we would have a farewell from Ed and Mari-Etta as we pulled away from the dock. What lovely folks! As Mari-Etta told me yesterday and I shared with a friend……you are allowed to be negative when it comes to your Covid test. If you knew Mari-Etta, I think that sums she and Ed up pretty well…..they are the most positive folks I know. EIWP is an acronym for Everything Is Working Perfectly……and if it isn’t it sure will be before you leave their presence.

Once off the dock it is my job to tidy up the lines and stow them away and bring the bumpers in that have been deployed for over a month now. But…..as we round the corner to “thread the needle” down our narrow passage I take my time pulling in all those bumpers. You never know when you might need to deploy one.

Like a champion we are out of the channel and into Hawks Channel (inside the reef) heading to Key Biscayne/No Name Harbor. The weather is not too bad…..actually a little cool and we elect to steer from the pilot house where we are all warm and toasty. We have the stabilizers on but there is little they have to do as the chop is not too bad. After a couple hours I actually got my shower and got a few cleaning items taken care of before returning to the pilot house. The captain has everything or should I say every one under control.

As we are making our approach towards Key Biscayne, the sight of the spinnaker let us know we are headed directly into the wind while these guys are down wind sailing. Ti Amo would be doin a wing to wing down wind sailing as we did not have a spinnaker.

We are just about at Key Biscayne as we get a text from our hosts that they miss us already. Please enjoy the photos I took of Heart Harbor last night before we bid our farewells.
