We headed out of St. Augustine in hopes of doing an overnighter or two and making it to Key Largo where we would hold up at Rodriguez Key and await high tide to enter our beloved Heart Harbor. Well as our luck has been not the best this trip, we were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable a ride we were getting as we headed down the Atlantic Ocean. We passed by some favorite spots….Fort Pierce….West Palm….and then as we approached Fort Lauderdale and Miami, the weather turned a little more south and the seas were a bit confused. So we made the decision to enter No Name Harbor at 1:00 in the morning. Yes…pitch black and entering a harbor and dropping anchor. Not ideal but the captain handled it well. We would get some rest and then head to Rodriguez later that morning and stay the night there and enter on Wednesday’s high tide.

Ed and Mari-Etta were waiting for us at the dock ready to catch our lines and secure us. We were in our home away from home and happy to be here. Now we have the task of getting the boys vet checked and ready for their trip as well as our last provisioning and some laundry to catch up on. So our next week or so we will take on a little fuel, enjoy our hosts and their other guests and get our fill of Florida and the tropical weather with a stray shower here and there. Then we will be ready for our trip “across the pond” as my dad says.
Stay tuned.
