So our forecast has come today and when listening this morning to the broadcast the deliverer chuckled and said that even after Wednesday they don’t see any break in the velocity of the wind or the size of the seas until POSSIBLY Friday. Have a look at what we get daily.
N of CpLookout-Hatteras: SW<NW@10-25g32/5-9′ today; NW@10-25<N@22-35g50/5-10′<8-14′ tonight-Sun8; N@25-42g55/12-20′ Mon9-Tue10; N-NNE@20-35g45<10-25g35/12-20′<6-12′ Wed11.
N of Hatteras-Norfolk: SW-NW up to 25g35k/3-7′ today; NW up to 25k<NNE@20-32g40/5-8′<8-15′ tonight-Sun8; NNE@25-42g55/12-20′ Mon9-Tue10; N-NNE@20-35g45<10-25g35/12-20′<6-12′ Wed11.
If you look at the first area, which we are really straddling two areas here so that is why we have them both. So the wind will start out of the southwest and change to northwest today with a 10 – 25 knots of wind gusting up to 32 knots……and the size of the seas???? 5 to 9 feet. And if that does not get you excited then look at Monday through Wednesday when the wind is out of the north 25 – 42 knots gusting to 55 with seas that are 12 to 20 feet. WOWZA! So…..needless to say we are on the intra coastal waterway but the rivers, bays, sounds and creeks are all impacted by this Nor’easter. We cannot navigate the Alligator River because the bridge will not open with winds above 30 knots.
So, as with the beginning of our trip, the end of our trip will be about waiting as well. But I must say this! I have found this year to be somewhat of a challenge weather wise and a little bit of one because of Covid, but our vessel????? Paradigm Shift (known to some as Sauvy B) has been the best vessel to spend these moments of waiting and sitting through storms or delays of any type. We are forever grateful to Crossroads for introducing us to the Selene back in 2015.
We loved our Caliber 47 and were just not ready at that time to give up our desire to sail. So we waited and really enjoyed seven winter cruising seasons with Ti Amo. When the time is right and the perfect boat presents itself…..you gotta make a decision. And with that we say a huge thank you to the Chancellors for giving us the honor of taking their Sauvy B and making it our Paradigm Shift. Robert and Carolyn have been with us in spirit and by the phone when needed to answer the more complex and even the simple questions from time to time. We should all have prior owners that are as helpful!
Hi Greg & Glenda
