Timing is everything! With a weather routing from Chris Parker and the short window available to cross, Crossroads and Paradigm Shift were ready to embark on their fifty some hour passage from Great Harbor to Charleston, South Carolina. Our original plan was to leave about 10 in the morning but that soon changed to a 7 o’clock departure and to get the party on the road. We knew from our routing forecast that Sunday night would be the roughest and then Tuesday we would need to get in to Charleston in order to avoid another wind event. Chris Parkers forecast and routing could not have been much better. We were exactly where we were told to be and conditions were not far off (if not spot on) from what he had predicted. That is a service that we are grateful to have. There were times we felt we were surfing the waves but for the most part, Paradigm Shift performed flawlessly and we could not be happier.
Our destination was Charleston South Carolina with hopes that we could stay on the Mega Dock for the duration of the trip. This would give our Paradigm Shift a much needed break from running the generator to charge batteries and would give us a chance to clean some of the salt that has accumulated on her hull.
Having cleared Customs and receiving our approval code, just as promised, we could see the rain clouds on the horizon and we once again were thankful for Chris Parker and to be tied up to the Mega Dock. And just like that, we have a rainbow!
Oh yes….there is time to do other things while in Charleston. We would take a horse driven carriage ride through historic Charleston and listen to the stories of different houses or buildings. That was a great tour and as we have learned there are several routes with different stories so we will enjoy that again another time.
Crossroads and Paradigm Shift will move a little further up the Intra Coastal Waterway on Friday. We plan to stop in Georgetown for at least one night so we will stage for a stay there Monday and then make another move thereafter. The boys???? Well they are typical Cooper and Jaxon. One is “chill”, one is like a kid at Christmas and doesn’t want to miss a thing.
