Chubb Cay Resort

With our final “escape” from the freezing temperatures of home and the ever inviting ambiance of the Florida Keys, we found our weather window and crossed the “pond” to a new point of entry for us at Chubb Cay.

Our first year in the Bahamas we met our first cruising buddies at the anchorage outside Chubb. John Paul and Kimberly to this day are still living the dream and are currently in the Panama Canal heading west. They have been a delight to watch and follow over the years. Anyhow, we have been in the anchorage and in by dinghy to the resort but never had stayed. Cooper has his eye out for any intruders as we sit at anchor a couple of days. You know we have had some moments of doubt about this little guy from time to time but he sure does bring a ton of joy.

With the upcoming weather it seemed like the best option for us would be to give the resort a try. Greg had been online and made a reservation that would take us through the weekend. Yes…..we were ON LINE thanks to Elon Musk! We have had a great experience with our satellite dish thus far.

The resort is absolutely stunning and well maintained. The staff is amazing and ever so pleasant. I could not resist taking photos here but they don’t do the place justice. The mega yachts seemed to outnumber us little guys (at least is square footage used). I was shocked to see so many boats could fit in what seemed a small spot.

Our little group, No Limits, Jenna Bird, Believe and Paradigm Shift went to the locals bar, The Nauti Rooster, for some food, pool, darts, uno, dominoes and libations. We had a great time as it was Rake and Scrape night with loud chatter and dancing. The pizza and wings were delicious and the staff even played the happy birthday song for a couple in our group! A great night.

Our next day we would enjoy the hot tub and meeting other boaters as they tell their story. Everyone has one to share. So we sat at the hot tub then went to watch the sunset as well as the space launch from Canaveral. It was a very pleasant evening but again we will have to pull ourselves away from “comfort” and luxury and head across the Tongue of the Ocean for West Bay (Nassau area).
