Southbound

The last of the enclosure for the flybridge has been installed and with that comes the desire to start our journey to the Keys and beyond. Excited to be out on the water after not having been aboard for several months, we are enjoying the gentle ride down the Rappahannock River and into the Chesapeake Bay.

This morning the decks were like skating rinks. Greg watches the boys slipping and sliding as they made their way out for their morning stretch. We had our early morning cup of coffee while we waited for the sun to come up and prayed for a little more warmth before pulling power cords and water and then dropping the lines that keep Paradigm Shift secured in her slip. And within an hour we were off the dock and headed out of Urbanna Harbor and into the Rappahannock River.

The captain has settled into his seat and this morning his co-pilot is Cooper. Let me talk about Cooper for a moment……he has really blossomed this year. The biggest news for him is that we did not bring a crate for him to sleep in so he would need to adjust to sleeping in his bed just as Jaxon has done for the last couple of years. Cooper has not been the “dream” Jaxon was to train, but he sure has been a delight and life has just become more fun watching the two boys interact.

This is Thanksgiving Day and with that I would like to wish all that read this a very Happy Thanksgiving! We will miss the family gathering, the turkey, dressing and cranberry but sometimes the weather and the anxiousness to leave puts you in a place that you have to “just do it”.

We are hoping with our solar addition and our satellite addition that we will be able to stay ahead of the generator use and the cellular bills. Enjoy the day and we hope you will check back in on us in the future.
