With a few days left in George Town to provision, enjoy and work on any boat issues before leaving, that was precisely what we would do. Changing oils, checking fluids, tracing leaks and repairing along the way. And then there is that! That thing you can’t repair that makes you hesitate and take a second look at your upcoming trip and the many possibilities of what MAY happen. There are a lot of variables at play and you sort through them all and consider what is the best for all parties, but mainly your only mode of transportation. We take for granted sometimes that these vessels were made to withstand a great deal but when something is awry…..best to protect the vessel and insure your trip home than to push it and not have all systems working when crossing the ocean to go home. With that, we (Crossroads and Paradigm Shift) have decided to part here in George Town. Paradigm Shift will go on to the Raggeds and Crossroads will buddy boat with No Limits and head to other islands they have never explored. With all parties in agreement, we forge on and continue to make memories with the time we have left together.
We would jump in our dinghies in search of lunch……with the fish fry closed we would head to Splash….the swing bar. For those of you that are not familiar with the venue, they have swings that lind the bar for seating instead of stools. A unique place and while the food is always good you have to remember you are on Bahama Island time and just relax. Reading the walls takes a while and is quite enjoyable to pass the time as you wait for your food.
We would head back and bash through the rough sound to board our respective boats. Believe it or not Robin and I did get a chance to pull out the paddle boards and take a spin along the Sand Dollar Beach coastline. Robin, never having been on hers, was amazing. She stayed upright almost to the end. It was not until I fell for the second time that she fell watching me. We braved paddling from the shoreline back to our boats as Greg and the boys would follow in the dinghy in case of we needed assistance. Wish we had pictures to share but I was not confident enough to carry one with me.
We would all venture out once again to meet up at Peace and Plenty Beach Bar. John and Joanne of No Limits met us there for an afternoon libation and conversation. It was at this point we all realized that Crossroads and Paradigm Shift would need to part but it so happened that No Limits would be going the same direction as Crossroads. What a win! I can’t think of a better group to buddy boat with. So now we are all making our plans and finishing our provisioning for whatever direction we are headed. Cooper is very interested in where folks are going. The blooms and foliage at Peace and Plenty are spectacular.
We know when we depart from this meeting that Paradigm Shift will be planning her trip south to the Raggeds and awaiting the wind abatement predicted Saturday morning.
