Anticipation

The most appropriate definition I can find comes from the Cambridge English Dictionary……”1. a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen in the near future.” That says it in a nutshell. With that feeling of excitement we head to our favorite beach bar on Stocking Island for a libation as we await the arrival of our dear friends on Crossroads, Robin and Barry. Having received their ETA of 2:30 only makes the anticipation grow as we are wondering where they are at that hour. So I quickly shoot a text and within moments hear they are approaching Monument Beach. The anticipation heightens as we wait to see the Selene 43 come into our view. We had made arrangements to anchor near one another so they have to pass by us at Peace and Plenty to get to the anchorage. While waiting, we enjoy watching families enjoy the beach and the swimming area in front of the resort. Multi generational families are around complete with grandpa out on the paddle board not afraid of trying for his first time with his grandchildren.

The water is as clear as can be with the pattern in the sand left to remind us that when untouched the shoreline is a beautiful thing. I was appalled to find as we walked several beaches that some of the tourists….not cruisers…..had left their empty trash/bottles sitting on the beach while they got back in their runabout boats and headed back to their bungalows. It is a sad commentary to the area as it seems acceptable and there is no one to “police” this type activity. There is the occasional work of art that is left behind and that brings a smile to those passing through.

The long awaited moment arrived…..there was Crossroads……such a sight to behold. We immediately dingy out to welcome the crew to George Town and make plans to have dinner aboard Paradigm Shift. The last we saw Robin was Christmas for a day and for Barry it was back in November when we were making our way down the ICW at Belhaven. But no matter what amount of time has passed, it is always like we have not skipped a beat. It is great to have them in the harbour and even greater that we get to spend a little time with them before they head to Spanish Wells. Our desire is to make it to the Raggeds together but whether we get to do that is dependent on the weather. We will have fun together no matter where the weather dictates we need to be. So for now…….George Town is home while we wait on our weather planning.
