Finally after a couple of days of winds in the upper 20’s and 30 knots, we were able to get off the boat. Our first day we would head over to Kidd Cove into Lake Victoria and take our computer to a shop for evaluation. It was sad but true that a 52 foot Beneteau had gone into the Exuma Yacht Club to pick up fuel and unfortunately ran aground. He went in at high tide so it took a tug boat to pull him out at the next high tide. It provided entertainment and conversation for those at the Yacht Club having lunch that day. I don’t know who would have advised them that there was enough depth to bring their boat into the harbor, but it shallows pretty quickly in there.
We would plow our way up the coast north to Starfish Beach where the traveling bar was making a visit. There were folks sitting under the tiki huts while the young and old alike were dancing in the water (and on the bar) to the reggae music blasting from the speakers aboard the floating bar. Folks were having a great time and the liquid libations were flowing. He needed a second and possibly a third bartender.
We took another day to head up to Sand Dollar Beach and do the “Art” walk. Interesting to find all the various pieces of work that folks have left. I am including a bunch here but there were tons more. I love these walks and all the treasures both from someones hands and from the sea.
At the end of the walk we find the beach and spend time looking for treasures. Seriously, this is just beautiful and this morning we have it all to ourselves. The boys run back and forth enjoying the froth from the sea. I wish they could always be off leash but that is difficult in an area such as this where the shrubbery is thick and one could get lost …..and yes it would be Cooper. A couple of years ago we saw that happen with a friends dog and it took them hours to find him. Definitely a good end to the story but it is not how I want to spend my time and I don’t need the cardiac boost.
We finished our day yesterday with a visit to Chat and Chill/Volleyball beach and the lagoon behind. We had to laugh at the little boat moored in the lagoon……a nice beautiful little boat made of what???? Wood? With a name of ”Termite”.
We will head into town again before the next weather window and provision with “eggs”ential items. Our Selene friends on Crossroads…..yes, Robin and Barry have crossed the banks and are headed to Black Point today and we will see them in the following week. We hope to find a weather window to hit the Jumentos and Ragged Islands.
