What a couple of days we have had of steady winds……our last day in Black Point we had no desire to get off the boat and bash into the waves in the anchorage only to get drenched. We elected to leave Friday morning for the 5F Festival at Little Farmers Cay. 5 F’s…….First Friday in February Festival at Farmers. It is quite a nice time and traditionally each year there is a regatta that has cruisers as well as Bahamians crewing. This year and last actually all regattas have not been allowed due to COVID. But the festival continues with the the roasting of the boar to the fun on the beach at Ty’s. We elected to stay at Ty’s and catch up with friends rather than go into town. While it started a little slow, by mid afternoon the joint was hopping and there was cornhole and other games going on at the beach.
We heard from a gentleman we met at Cambridge Cay, John Farmelo. He had taken several pictures of Paradigm Shift and did a great job of showing the mooring ball and pendant we talk about on occassion. I thought I would share that photo here so you could see just what the set up looks like.
We did not stay for Saturday festivities but elected to take the better weather opportunity to head out of Galliot Cut into the ocean and ride down to Adderly to our favorite anchorage in the Exumas, Williams Cay. We like the three different beaches that (at the moment) are not marked Private Property so we can take the boys for a jaunt. The waves coming throught the cut were about four foot but we had no issues getting through and the cut coming into Adderly was a breeze.
Safely anchored at Williams, we had issues with the generator not kicking water so we took a couple of hours to dive into that issue as that is our source of power. Greg is really handy with this stuff and I act as “sous” mechanic. The ”sous” mechanic is like the nurse assisting in the operating room or the dental assistant…..when they holler for a wrench, scapel or bite plate……we are all there doing our intended jobs! Rene, Ryan and Christine stopped by on their dinghy as they were anchored at Lee Stocking Island, the Cay right before Williams. We were busy with our projects so they went on to shore and we continued to work on the generator and other various duties. I like wiping down the boat after being on the ocean especially as the sea spray gets to windows depositing salt crystals which when left over a period of time can cause harm. We will stay here a couple of days and enjoy the scenery and the calmer waters …….paddle board……here I come. I got to enjoy the hammock a bit yesterday with the help of a couple of four legged friends.
