Counting

We had made the decision to arrive at Heart Harbor a little earlier than we had originally planned as we kept hearing reports of nasty winds and we did not need or want that to interfere with our already exciting entrance.  So we have some time on our hands as we count the days to Christmas.
I have cleaned and scrubbed the top deck and dinghy, polished all the stainless and waxed the top of the dinghy.  That was a fun day.  There is something rewarding when you can see your accomplishments and you are pleased with the results.  Greg has been working on our electrical needs for when we return home.  This summer we had a list of projects, some were completed but because of a small hiccup the one we put on hold were solar panels.  Well it turns out that is the one thing we wish we had of done.  Now we have to run the generator to charge the battery bank and sometimes that slight hum gets to be so much a part of the day that you can forget it is running.  Our hosts have been wonderful, offering us use of vehicles when needed and offering assistance in figuring out what we will need to do to make our trip home work this year.

Some days Greg works on small projects that he has accumulated on a list and tries to knock one or two out.  On those days I find myself finding reasons to get off the boat and stretch my legs.  While having a car is great, some days I need the walk.  I love to see the changes from year to year and the beauty of the greenery and blooms in the area.  Oh yeah and my favorite iguanas…..not really but they are fascinating.

My next boat project would be cleaning the master sump and bilge.  Oh boy!  Carolyn, if you are reading this thank you for the turkey baster.  It is a nasty job but my predecessor made it a little easier.  A sigh of relief that it is done and now I can move on the the VIP sump.

Christmas has come for me and while I am excited, it is something I will wait to deploy in the Bahamas.  Yes, Santa had his elves deliver early as he was uncertain where I would be Christmas Day.  I will be paddling in the waters of the Bahamas this year and enjoying every moment of it.  I cannot wait.

With cocktails aboard Sweet Dreams, we capture the beauty of the grounds all lit.  It is a wonderful place to be and we could not ask for better hosts.  Ed and Mari-Etta are the best!
